President: Sophie Broad
Hi! My name is Sophie and I am the president of GKT Music Society 2017/18. Alongside for the last two years being a GKT Music Society member, I have been studying Medicine at Kings. In the coming year I will be studying Neuroscience for an intercalated BSc degree before continuing my medical studies. I play the violin in the orchestra of GKT Music Society and although I am not in the choir I love to listen to them sing and on occasion can be seen dancing around in the background (much to others amusement…). We have an exciting year to come, with some great music and concert venues lined up, so I’m looking forward to seeing what the year brings!
Treasurer: Samantha Sohn
Hi! My name is Sam, and I’m a third year medical student who will be your treasurer. Other than playing the violin, my hobbies include eating and sleeping and re-watching How I Met Your Mother for the dozenth time. We play tons of fun things in our society, and besides, have plenty of great people! Make sure to say hi if you see me around
Secretary: Evan Roberts
I’m Evan and I will be going into by fourth year of Physics. I get the best of both worlds playing the trumpet in orchestra and being in choir. And above all I absolutely adore our music director, Richard. GKT music soc isn’t just for GKT people, anyone can come and enjoy playing music (and maybe a few pints after).
Hi! My name is Emma and this year I will be in my third year of Medicine, intercalating in Imaging Sciences. I’m part of the choir, but I still enjoy listening to the orchestra perform. I absolutely love choir and choral music. GKT music society is such a great community to have fun and share our love of music. Drop me a message if you have any questions or if you want to geek out about choral music.
Hi! I’m Freya, one of your social secs for this year. I’m a violinist, fourth year medic, huge Queen Bey fan (isn’t everyone?) and I have been known to dabble in various sports. Most of all I am a sucker for an empty dance floor. Looking forward to lots of socials this year which I’m hoping will include various concerts, a pub quiz (or several), a pub crawl (or several) and other chilled events involving food and music. I also strongly encourage requests!
I’m a second year at KCL as a student nurse in the Florence nightingale faculty, and I am the GKT music soc social sec! I play the saxophone in orchestra and also joined the choir. I love GKT music soc because it’s so much fun every Monday, and it gave me my best friends. If you ever need me for anything, I’ll probably be in Guys Bar….
Orchestra Representatives & Librarians:
My name is Amber, and I’m a third year English student. GKT is a great way to keep up with cello and uni and meet people outside your department. If you see me around campus, come say hi!
